A Day at the Zoo
Believe it or not, it has been only a month and I am posting again! Will wonders never cease. Anyway, Joe shaved his beard, glorious day. I guess he just got sick of it. One night he came to bed clean shaven. Don't worry, I got pictures before he shaved it off. I will post some.
Some more good news, a couple of weeks ago we installed a new furnace and AC. What does that mean? We will all survive the summer! And it now costs us much less to run the furnace and when we do it actually warms our entire house. It's a beautiful thing.
Since we had some sun today and about 5 whole minutes without rain, we actually accomplished something in the back yard. I scooped poop, my favorite chore, and Joe trimmed the lawn and was able to get our garden ready for planting. Now all we need are the plants. We tried growing our own from seeds but they are looking extremely sad. I doubt they would last one night outside. Maybe next year we will try again.
On Saturday we took Elijah to Hogle Zoo along with our friends, Scott and Heather and their 2 boys. They all had a blast! Elijah gets really attached to kids pretty quickly. I guess that's a good thing, he'll make friends well. Anyway, since the weather was so nice, the zoo was packed. Joe and I had to go to the back parking lot to find a spot. However, because we did, the guy at the gate let us in for free! That's sixteen dollars we didn't have to spend. But really, the weather was perfect. Nice and sunny but still cool. The first animals we saw were camels and Elijah just turned and looked at us and said, "Lions and monkeys..." Obviously the child isn't much into camels. I can't say I blame him. Sadly, Hogle Zoo has no lions, so he was a little sad, but if you ask him he'll tell you he saw some. He really loved watching the monkeys though. If we had had more time I'm sure he could have sat and watched them for hours. He also got a kick out of the little train ride they have there. It's not much, but to him it was grand. Considering we skipped his nap completely, he did really well and had a great time!
